📘 TYPES OF TEXT PASSAGE- English 3

📘 A Story About the Four Text Passages

One sunny morning, four friends met in the school library. Their names were Narrative, Description, Explanation, and Procedural. Each one loved reading and writing in a special way.

Narrative smiled and said, “I love telling stories. My stories have characters, a place where things happen, and exciting events. Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an ending. I tell stories to entertain readers.” The children listened as Narrative shared a fairy tale about a brave hero.

Next, Description spoke softly. “I help readers imagine things. I describe how a person looks, how a place feels, or how something smells and sounds.” As Description talked, everyone could picture a colorful garden full of flowers.

Then, Explanation raised a hand. “I explain how or why things happen. I give facts and reasons. I use words like because, so, and as a result.” Explanation explained why rain falls from the clouds, and everyone understood it better.

Finally, Procedural said proudly, “I show how to do something step by step. I use action words and clear instructions.” Procedural shared the steps in making a sandwich, and everyone nodded in agreement.

The four friends laughed together. They were different, but all were important. From that day on, the children remembered:

Story is Narrative.
Details are Description.
How and why are Explanation.
Steps are Procedural.

Estimating, Adding, and Subtracting Numbers-MATH 3

Today, we will learn how to estimate, add, and subtract numbers. These skills help us solve math problems quickly and correctly, especially in real-life situations like using money.

First, let us talk about estimating the difference of two numbers. Estimating means finding an answer that is close to the exact answer. We do this by rounding numbers to the nearest tens, hundreds, or thousands. For example, to estimate the difference of 4,823 and 2,176, we round them to 4,800 and 2,200. Then we subtract to get an estimated answer. Estimating helps us check if our final answer makes sense.

Next, we learn how to add and subtract 3 to 4 numbers with up to 2 digits. When we solve these, we must follow the correct order of operations. This means we solve the numbers from left to right, making sure to add or subtract carefully and accurately.

Finally, we apply these skills in word problems, especially problems involving money. For example, we may add the prices of items or subtract the amount spent from the total money. We read the problem carefully, decide whether to add or subtract, and then solve step by step.

By learning to estimate, add, subtract, and solve problems correctly, we become more confident in math and better at using numbers in everyday life.

Caring for the Environment to Support Living Things- Science Grade 3

All living things, such as plants, animals, and humans, have basic needs to survive. These basic needs include air, water, food, and shelter. Living things get these needs from their environment.

Caring for the Environment to Support Living Things- Science Grade 3 poster here

Plants need sunlight, water, air, and soil to grow. Animals need clean water, food, air, and a safe place to live. People also need clean air, water, food, and a healthy place to live. When the environment is clean and healthy, living things can easily get what they need.

However, when the environment is dirty or destroyed, living things may not survive. Polluted air makes it hard to breathe, dirty water can make animals and people sick, and cutting too many trees can destroy homes of animals.

Because of this, we must protect and conserve the environment. We can help by throwing trash properly, saving water, planting trees, and caring for plants and animals. By protecting the environment, we help ensure that all living things can meet their basic needs and continue to live and grow.

Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Grade 3 – Quarter 3, Week 6 (MATATAG Curriculum)

DLL GRADE 3_Q3_W6

 FILE

📘 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Grade 3 – Quarter 3, Week 6 (MATATAG Curriculum)

The MATATAG Curriculum continues to guide teachers in delivering purposeful, well-organized, and learner-centered instruction. For Grade 3 educators, the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) for Quarter 3, Week 6 serves as a valuable tool in planning daily activities that strengthen foundational skills, promote meaningful engagement, and nurture values essential to holistic development.

This week’s DLL integrates key learning competencies across major subject areas such as Filipino, English, Mathematics, Science, Makabansa, Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC), and MAPEH. Each school day begins with consistent routines that support a positive learning environment—prayer, greetings, attendance checking, short reviews, and energizers that help set a lively and focused atmosphere for the learners.

In Mathematics, students continue practicing multiplication and division through real-life word problems, group activities, and interactive drills. These tasks enhance numeracy skills and encourage critical and analytical thinking.
In English, the focus is on improving comprehension through context clues, enabling learners to understand unfamiliar words and make better sense of short passages. Filipino lessons strengthen reading fluency and comprehension, while also helping learners communicate their ideas more confidently in their mother tongue and national language.
Meanwhile, Science encourages exploration through simple investigations, observations, and guided questioning, building curiosity and foundational scientific thinking.

The Makabansa subject area helps learners deepen their appreciation for their identity as Filipinos. Lessons emphasize love for country, respect for cultural heritage, and awareness of national symbols, traditions, and shared values. Through stories, songs, and meaningful activities, learners begin to understand their role as young members of the nation.

In GMRC, values such as kindness, cooperation, honesty, and respect are reinforced through real-life scenarios and reflective discussions, supporting the MATATAG goal of producing learners with strong character.

The DLL ensures that teachers are well-prepared with organized strategies, assessment tools, and reflection notes, helping them continually improve the learning experience. With clear structure and flexibility, Week 6 becomes an opportunity to inspire joy, curiosity, and confidence in every Grade 3 learner.
